A pair of Neoclassical ormolu girandoles with nymphs and maenads

Fire-gilt bronze and white marble candelabra formed from numerous separately cast pieces. Three-flame table candlesticks designed as female figures of a maenad and a nymph in draperies standing on fluted plinths with a cornucopia and a child-like satyr. The three branches of foliate design surrounding a central wreath suspended from three chains. H 67,2 cm.
Paris, around 1775 - 80, the figures based on designs by Etienne-Mauice Falconet.
