A Meissen porcelain slop bowl with merchant navy scenes

Porzellan, polychromer Emaildekor, radierte Vergoldung. Round bowl on a tall basal ring. Decorated with finely painted water landscapes to the outer body and one in puce camaieu to the base in quatrefoil reserves with fine strapwork in gold, purple and iron red. Two large bouquets of “indianische blumen” and gilt lace border. Large blue crossed swords mark, gold painter's mark B., indistinct underglaze blue mark to the basal ring and dreher's mark oo for Johann Gottlieb Kühnel Sr. Wear to the gilding of the rim. D 15.3 cm.
Around 1732 – 35, décor attributed to Christian Friedrich Herold.
