A rare Meissen porcelain plate with allegorical decor

With pierced meander border and rim with pierced ovals. Decorated in the centre with a finely painted scene of swans, herons, and geese by a lake surrounded by a gold ring entwined with a purple ribbon. The border with garlands in relief beneath plaques inscribed "Chantes l'amour Tu jouis du Retour Servons d'exemples." Blue crossed swords mark with star, underglaze blue II in the basal ring, impressed H and 32. A restored rim chip at 6 o'clock. D 23.6 cm.
Around 1775 – 1780.

Some services from this time period reiterate motifs from the court service, such as the ring entwined with a ribbon in relief or the pierced ovals of the border. The sumptuous décor of this piece speaks for a courtly order. In his “Festschrift”, Berling cites a similar plate with a bucolic scene and so-called “Oblettausschnitt”.
