A Flemish inlaid cabinet with embroidered decor

Ebony and ivory on softwood corpus with embroidered cream and red silk, upholstery and brass mountings. Of straight-sided design with two doors above a drawer in the base and a concave cornice with a hinged compartment. Containing eight drawers in two rows flanking a central mirrored niche with a chequerboard floor. The drawer fronts, the insides of the doors, and the inside of the lid all decorated with panels of embroidered birds in tendrils. With carrying handles on either side. Some shrinkage cracks, the locks and some of the mirrors replaced. H 51, W 59.5, D 30.5 cm.
Attributed to Antwerp, 17th C.
