Zwei Pinguine
Circa 1914

Bronze Height 30.2 cm Signed 'A. GAUL' on plinth to rear left and numbered below on edge of plinth 'X'. Apart from 4 acquistions and sales at the Galerie Cassirer between 1919 and 1921, an edition of 10 casts was acquired by Cassirer in 1922. Probably no later casts. - In their conception, the figures are closely related to Gaul's penguins for the Hamburg city park (Gabler 199). - The lively bronze-coloured patina partially lightened.
