In recognition of his diplomatic services during the first Silesian war, Prussian state minister Count Heinrich von Podewils (1696 - 1760) received an extensive service as a gift from King August III in 1742 whilst acting as envoy in Dresden. The service utilised designs developed in the same year for the hunting service of Prince Elector Clemens August of Bavaria (1700 - 1761).
Tureens from this service are exceedingly rare. A large tureen and cover with its original stand from the former collection of Dr. Ernst Schneider is currently housed in Lustheim palace (inv. no. ES 763 b).
