A rare tea bowl and saucer from the "Diedo" service

The cup's display side and the well of the saucer with the coat of arms in a purple cartouche supported by putti. With finely painted merchant shipping scenes. The well of the saucer with a Dutch village landscape in purple camaieu. The inner rims with gilt borders. Blue crossed swords mark, gilt dot, dreher's mark with three circles for Gottfried Seydel (on the tea bowl). H tea bowl 4.2, D 7.5, D saucer 12.1 cm.
Circa 1735, decor attributed to Christian Friedrich Herold.

Maureen Cassidy-Geiger has proposed that this service may have been presented to Antonio Diedo, a Venetian diplomat active in Paris and Vienna.
