A Thuringian glass goblet with a comical inscription

With glass disease. Round base with garland motifs supporting a faceted baluster shaft with a large pommel and a tapering cup issuing from a joint with bubble inclusions. Decorated with two motifs in oval cartouches showing a small man walking through an imperial orb, inscribed around the rim: "Siehe Zu wie dirs wird glücken da ich durch wolt mußt ich mich bücken. Sohab ich mir vorgenommen durch die gantze welt zu komen". H 21.8 cm.
Attributed to the workshop of Georg Ernst Kunkel in Eisenach, 2nd quarter 18th C.
