A Berlin KPM porcelain cloche from a dinner service for Charlottenburg palace

Model no. 1054. With a spherical finial issuing from a laurel rosette, the outer surface decorated with bouquets of naturalistic flowers, the borders with garlands of flowers and foliage. Blue sceptre mark to the interior, incised I and 3(?). D 25.6 cm.
1796.

Friedrich Wilhelm II (1744 - 1797) ordered this extensive dinner and dessert service "with colourful naturalistic bouqets, the border with the same garlands between purple rim and well ring". The model "Antikglatt" was chosen to suit contemporary taste. The service, with place settings for 72 guests, was delivered in 1796.
