This copper panel depicts a view of a river valley flanked by mountains and hills. Barges are moored on the river's banks, and the slopes are enlivened by houses and people going about their work. The motif and style, but especially the quality of the painting, is reminiscent of the works of Christian Georg Schütz (1718-1791), who was active in Frankfurt, and thus this unsigned painting can be attributed to his oeuvre.
