A carved boxwood figure of the Virgin and Child attributed to Nicolas van der Veken

Carved in the round, the reverse only provisionally rendered. A finely carved depiction of the Virgin Mary leading the Christ Child beside Her by the hand, whereby both figures place their left feet on the serpent from the Garden of Eden.
With very minor wear. Mounted on a wooden plinth. Height 17 cm (without plinth).
