A wood and ivory netsuke of a rooster inside a drum. Mid-19th century

The finely carved ivory rooster, visible through a hole in the drum's wall, stands head turned with his magnificent erected long tail (sickles). The wooden drum, decorated with mitsu tomoe on the skins, the nails of ivory. Restored, one nail missing.
Height 3 cm; width 2.5 cm
