A Berlin KPM porcelain coffee pot with genre scenes

Model no. 122. One side decorated with a town crier pointing towards a map, observed by a peasant woman with two children and a boy with a squirrel perching on a stick. The other side with a peasant couple dancing to music played on a hurdy gurdy and a violin. The original lid with two peasant scenes. H 23 cm.

Literature

A jug with the same decor by the Gotzkowsky manufactory which preceeded KPM can be found as part of a service in the Belvedere collection in Charlottenburg Palace (published in Baer et alii, Von Gotzkowsky zur KPM, Berlin 1986, p. 249). There with reference to the prototype, “Der Marktschreier“ by Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich (Dietricy), dated 1740, today in the KPM-Archiv.
