The Düsseldorf-born painter Conrad Kiesel (1846 - 1921) settled in Berlin in 1885. He took part in numerous academy exhibitions, including the World Fair in Paris in 1900. His subjects suited the contemporary taste of Wilhelmine Germany and were widely reproduced.
