A Dutch mortar from 1609

Golden brown cast bronze with chocolate brown patina. Decorated with one thinner and one thicker band of arabesques with acanthus leaves and delicate tendrils. The upper section with a broad banderole inscribed in Latin capital letters: “LOF GODT VAN AL Ao 1609”. The handles formed as dolphins. Some areas irregularly cast (the inscription and the handle bases), some minor dents around the rim. H 13.1, D 14 cm, weight c. 3.1 kg. Includes a corresponding bronze pestle with a node. L 24.5 cm.
