A Gothic single-handled mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with natural patina. Of tapering form resting on four narrow bracket feet from which issue one shorter and three longer angular ribs. With a thick, flaring moulded rim and angular, octagonally faceted handle. Minor casting irregularities and hairline cracks to the exterior. H 17, D 17 cm, weight c. 4 kg. Includes a corresponding T-shaped pestle. L 25.5 cm.
