A mortar with a hunting dog relief

Cast bronze with shimmering brown patina. Decorated with garlands of foliage suspended from two large flowerheads and a frieze of six dogs running towards the right. With two slender C-shaped handles. Minor dents around the rim, the base slightly rounded due to use, a horizontal crack running almost entirely around the body. H 11.8, D 13.2 cm, weight c. 2.4 kg.
Northern Italy, in the manner of the Alberghetti Foundry, 16th C.
