Xue Song lives and works in Shanghai. In his paintings he frequently uses scorched scraps of paper, newspaper and photos and forms a collage. In the early 1990s after a fire destroyed almost everything in his studio, he began to process the leftovers in his works, and combining the fragments with historical content or, as here, with Chinese characters.

薛鬆（1965年生）作者運用多媒材的特性，肢解繪畫技藝，在準備材料、製作施工的過程中，表達出與純繪畫的距離到視覺的終點便是圖像的意義價值。

薛松是一位頗具個人特色的藝術家，在1990年年底一次偶然的火災後，薛松從廢墟中尋找到了屬於自己的藝術語言和創作方法。他借鑒了西方利用現成物進行拼貼創作的概念，跳出了素材的限制，以燒制的方式來解構傳統文化，以拼貼重置了流行的元素，使用文化符碼來表現多層次的創作內涵。
