A Vienna carved quartz goblet
With silver gilt mountings. With a domed foot supporting a semi-spherical clear quartz cup carved with depictions of grotesque mascarons, vases, and mythical beasts. The gilded basal ring embellished with foil-backed paste stones surrounded by bands of acanthus and mascarons in polychrome “ronde bosse” enamel. The handles designed as two scrolls with female herms. H 16.7 cm.
