A Meissen porcelain putto as an allegory of astronomy

With fire-gilt bronze mountings. A figure of a putto with a telescope and compass, originally part of a group, standing on a rocaille base beside a globe. Mounted on a Louis XV style ormolu stand with an inkwell to one side. Unmarked unglazed base. Two fingers of the left hand lost. H 28.3 cm.
Model attributed to Johann Joachim Kaendler, mid-18th C.
