A Meissen porcelain cup and saucer with scenes after Angelika Kauffmann

Shallow cup with original lid and saucer. Painted with figures of Flora and Cupid and a laurel branch in reserves. Blue crossed swords mark with star and 4 (cup), gold N. (saucer). H with lid 8.2, D of saucer 12.5 cm.
Circa 1790 – 1800.

These motifs derive from prints from a cycle of the four seasons by Francesco Bartolozzi after Angelika Kaufmann: The standing female figure was originally Ceres with a sheaf of wheat (summer) and the kneeling woman with a basket of flowers a depiction of Flora (spring).
