"Frans de Hulst was a landscape painter from Haarlem whose works were strongly influenced by those of Jan van Goyen. This diagonally arranged river landscape composition with a view onto a heavily populated and densely wooded landscape in the distance is an exceptional example of his works.
The attribution to de Hulst was made by Marijke de Kinkelder. The painting is included in the database of the RKD in The Hague under the number 153460."
