Probably Westphalia late 15th century

A late 15th century carved wood crucifix, presumably Westphalia

Deciduous wood, carved in the round. The arms separately attached. Polychrome.. This crucifix is made up of a late Gothic Corpus Christi attached to a newer cross, presumably dating to shortly after 1900. The type and number of the six paint applications leave no doubt as to this corpus' origin in the 15th century. The last visible application of polychromy dates to around 1900 and has recently been cleaned, consolidated, glued and partially retouched.
The fingers of the left hand partially lost. Height of corpus 58 cm, width of arms 52 cm, height of cross with plinth 119 cm..
