A late 17th century German carved ivory relief of the Crucifixion

A slightly protruding pierced relief carved along the curve of the ivory tusk. It depicts Christ on a tall cross with the Virgin Mary, Saint John, and Mary Magdalene kneeling with the jar of ointment. Below the figures we see the stony ground and bones of Mount Calvary.
The base of the protruding beam of the cross broken and reattached with ivory dowels. Some discolouration. With an ivory support attached to the reverse. Height 26.5 cm.
