An early 18th century South German carved boxwood relief with the Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian

This small and finely rendered partially pierced relief depicts Saint Sebastian against a wooded landscape background, bound to a tree, suffering the martyrdom inflicted on him by two Roman soldiers.
A minute loss to the left hand of the standing soldier, otherwise in pristine condition. 7 x 10.5 x 2.5 cm.
