On an accompanying text sheet (with slight traces of age) it says: “The players of the national team and their supervisors were read or rather scanned on site in Siegen with a 3D camera recording procedure, a 3D body scanner with laser beams. The data obtained were fed into a laser sintering process which builds up the figures layer by layer in a powder material. This building process leads to an exact reproduction of the respective person thus creating a three-dimensional self-portrait in their chosen pose. The figures of the national team were produced purely by machine and show a procedure that was specially developed and first used for the project “Figuren 1:10” by Karin Sander in 1997”.
