On the flattened top of the lid Eight Immortals on clouds in black carving on a red ground suggesting clouds. In each of the eight panels of the lid's shoulder and of the of the body pairs of birds amidst blossoms and flowering branches, the same motifs on the borders. Black lacquer to the inside.
