"Entwicklungsmöbel" chair by Johann Niegeman

Solid poplar and pine, plywood, joints, (later) pale grey varnish, original upholstery with original golden yellow cloth cover. Can be taken apart and reassembled. The leather soiled, later grey green painting to the borders above the back rest. H 85, W 60, D 59 cm.
Presumably produced in the Bauhochschule Weimar, 1930s.

The Dutch designer Johan Niegeman (1902 - 1977) was a pupil at the Bauhaus from 1926 to 1930. His "Entwicklungsmöbel" / "Paketmöbel" ("development furniture" / "packet furniture") pieces were mass produced as of 1949.
