Armchair by the Hess & Rom furniture factory

Solid cherry, spring upholstery with silk damask covers. A filled shrinkage crack to the carved decor of the back rest, minor retouched repairs to the feet - presumably over insect damage. In very good condition for its age, with fine patina. H 139, W 73, D 70 cm.
Berlin, pre-1900.

The reconstruction of the silk damask was based on the wall coverings of the rooms in Ludwigsburg palace, which were redesigned by Johann Georg Barca (1781 - 1826).
