A Louis XVI era chaise longe
Probably from Pavlovsk Palace

Solid limewood painted fir green and gilded, upholstered in silk damask. The polychromy, upholstery and covers reconstructed using techniques from the period, in perfect condition. H 99, W 55.5, D 57.5 cm.
Paris, attributed to Henri Jacob (1753 - 1824), around 1790 - 1800.

The chair, which is not stamped, follows a model already developed by the more famous cousin of Henri Jacob, Georges Jacob, during the reign of Louis XVI and realized for example for the Petit Trianon of Marie-Antoinette in 1787. It is characterised by sculpted columns with carved finials on either side of the backrest .
The jacquard cover was made according to the original model from the tapestry room in the Palace of Pavlovsk in St. Petersburg on a handloom of the 18th century by Jacquard Moscou.
