A Gothic single-handled mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with brown patina. Tapering mortar with a thick base. Decorated with four vertical bands of foliate ornament and a cartouche monogrammed CBS (?) beneath a cross on the display side. With a single faceted handle. With a dent on the rim and several minor casting faults to the outer surface. H 11.5, D 14 cm, weight c. 2.7 kg.
Central Italy (possibly Perugia), 15th C.
