An Italian mortar with agnus dei motifs

Golden brown, slightly rough textured cast bronze with shimmering silvery patina. Decorated with pillars designed as satyrs carrying torches, plaques bearing the agnus dei, lion mascarons and a plaque engraved "I L". With remnants of pigment to the interior and dents throughout. H 9.5, D 13.5 cm, includes pestle, weight with pestle c. 2.6 kg.
Attributed to Northern or Central Italy, 18th C.
