Allegory of Justice triumphing over War and Wealth

Oil on canvas. 75 x 50 cm.

A preparatory study of the present allegory, on paper (49 x 35 cm), is housed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon.
Due to the clear stylistic references to Francesco Solimena, the painting has to be considered be an early work by the artist. Professor Spinosa suggested a date around 1685 and compares it with the two allegories of wealth and allegorical figures in the Glory of Sant´Ignazio in the Church of San Gesù Vecchio, Naples.
