Limoges 12th century
A bronze Corpus Christi, Limoges, 12th century
Cast, engraved and chased bronze with champlevé enamel and remnants of gilding. Fragmentarily preserved but finely worked Corpus Christi. The now lost arms would presumably have been held outstretched and the legs parallel, the figure wears a large crown upon its sunken head. The knee-length perizonium accentuated with coloured enamel.
Arms and legs lost, wear throughout. Height 11.7 cm.
