A carved wood Anna Selbdritt group, presumably Main-Franconian Region, around 1500/1510

Carved in the round, the reverse only partially worked. With minimal remains of former polychromy. Depicting Saint Anne in matronly garb, standing on a moulded plinth and turned slightly to one side. She holds her daughter Mary in her left hand. As the Mother of God, Mary is shown crowned and handing an orb to the figure of Christ held in Saint Anne's right hand. Saint Anne's swaying pose is underlined by the drapery of her floor-length cloak.
With vertical hairline cracks. Two larger cracks to the left half of Saint Anne's head and the right half of the plinth. Insect damage. Wear throughout. Height 72 cm.
