Portrait of the Priest Jakob Göbel from Bad Aibling

According to the enclosed expertise by the Munich based art historian Heribert Buchner, this portrait, made in around 1882, depicts a Priest from Bad Aibling. Leibl had a small studio home in this town and was friends with the local priest Jakob Göbel. This was confirmed by Leibl's model Barbara Jordan, known as "die Wabn", who the writer of the expertise met as a 76 year old widow in the Städtische Galerie in Rosenheim.
