This lot consists of 14 individual sheets with slightly differing dimensions. Each drawing shows a single figure or persons of different professions, both women and men. It is not known why Mühlig carried out these studies. However, they bear witness to Mühlig's interest not only in the atmospheric phenomena he was able to capture so well in his paintings, but also in people, especially his contemporaries from the artisanal and petty-bourgeois milieu. The works display a similar, though more modest, character to the photographer August Sander's series "People of the XXth Century".
