With a label on the reverse of the stretcher with a printed inscription "Ludwig / No" and handwritten addition "306".
This painting by the Mannheim artist Mathias Artaria was acquired by the art-loving Bavarian King Ludwig I in 1841 and remained in the royal collection or the Neue Pinakothek until 1925, when it was transferred to the Wittelsbach Ausgleichsfond.
