A longish octogonal dish. Seto. Mino area. Meiji period

The entire body covered with a light beige-coloured, crackled glaze, to the well a poem in iron black. Inside the base signed nanajûyon Suiu (the 74-year-old Suiu). Gold lacquer repair, small chips and irregular glaze losses. Wooden box, the lid with an inscription reading Yoshiwara Suiu ku iri (containing a poem by Yoshiwa Suiu) hishi sara (lozenge-shaped dish).
Length 18.2 cm

Yoshiwara Suiu (1819-1893) was a poet from Nagoya.
