A Tibetan gilt bronze figure of Sitatara (White Tara). Early 18th century

Seated in padmasana on a double lotus throne, her right hand held in varadamudra symbolizing dispensing of boons, and the left raised to the chest in abhyamudra, the gesture of fearlessness, a lotus blossom rising on each side of her shoulders. The seven eyes are located on her forehead, palms and feet. The richly bejewelled seven-eyed savior and symbol of purity is shown with magnificent pendants with turquoise inlays and the five-petalled crown of the conqueror of the world, the bound hair is finely chiselled. The copper cover plate of the closed throne base is decorated with engraved visvavajra (double vajra) in a round medallion.
