An early Meissen porcelain tureen with Chinoiserie decor and yellow ground

On an associated but matching dish decorated with "indianische blumen". The original lid with a finial formed as a crouching ape, the handles formed as snakes. Tureen and cover painted with Chinoiseries in purple rimmed reserves. Blue crossed swords mark. The tail tip of one handle reattached/retouched. Tureen H 10.5, lid diameter 10.6, dish diameter 15.7 cm.
C. 1727 - 30, decor attributed to the workshop of Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt.
