An Augsburg vermeil-mounted serpentine tankard

Slightly tapering serpentine vessel on a pronged basal ring, the handle held in place by two bands of mouldings. The domed hinged lid fitted with a bifurcated thumb rest with snakeskin decor and a small baluster-form finial with a turqoise cabochon. H 15.5 cm
Marks of Johann II Leser, 1679 - 1683.
