An opulent silver gilt writing set

The tray is an 18th century Nuremberg silver sideboard dish with pierced strapwork and acanthus decor. The tendril appliques, semi-precious stones and bombé-form ink well were added around 100 years later in Victorian London. H 11.5; W 36; D 22 cm, weight 648 g.
