A Dresden chair
by Udluft & Hartmann

Solid oak, stained brown, clear varnish, lower apron ebonised; seat with belt upholstery, backrest with flat upholstery; original brown leather covers with brass studs. Branded "G. Udluft & Hartmann DRESDEN" to the back apron. Restored condition, the leather torn, with two filled losses. H 119, W 46.5, seat depth 48.5 cm.
Dresden, 1900s / 1910s.

An entry in the Dresden City Archives provides information about Gustav Adolph Udluft (1871 - 1916), who founded the company Udluft & Hartmann together with the locksmith J.C.G. Hartmann and the carpenter C.M. Richter and produced modern furniture parallel to Dresden-Hellerau.
