by Georges de Feure (1868 - 1943)

Solid mahogany, stained brown with remnants of gold accents; replaced seat with beech frame, belt upholstery; backrest with flat upholstery and older, unrestored textile cover. Minor losses to the carved decor. H 88, W 42, seat depth 43 cm.
Paris, around 1900.

This chair model was produced to accompany a canapé presented by Samuel Bing at the Paris World Fair in 1900. The upholstered bench was gilded, and these chairs presumably were also.
