Anna Pavlovna Princess of Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov, Grand Duchess of Russia, was the daughter of Tsar Paul I and a sister of Tsars Alexander I and Nicholas I (St Petersburg jul.: 7th January /greg. 18th January 1795 - The Hague 1865). In 1816 she was married to William II of Orange-Nassau, Crown Prince of the Netherlands. He succeeded his father on the throne in 1840 and Anna Pavlovna became Queen of the Netherlands.
