A German 14k gold and blue enamel presentation snuff box with jewelled cipher M.

Richly chased and moulded cartouche form tobacco box with opulent 18th century style relief and engraved decor. The lid with chased flowerheads and acanthus tendrils surrounding a central wreath medallion with silver "M" applique set with old-cut diamonds (in total c. 1.0 ct, J-L, si-p) on royal blue enamel ground. The push button with acanthus tendrils. Lined in red gold. No hallmarks. W 8.3 cm. H 2.8 cm. D 6.7 cm. Weight 149.6 g. In the original fitted, red velvet lined case.
