A Reval parcel gilt silver tankard and cover

Cylindrical vessel with moulded rim and thick scroll handle on four ball feet with repoussé decor. Above the feet crowned oval portrait medallions in relief cartouches. The outer surface finely engraved with acanthus tendrils surrounding three round medallions with allegorical representations of the seasons spring, summer and winter. The slightly domed hinged lid with corresponding decor and a pomegranate as the thumbrest. On the top a fourth engraved medallion with an allegory of autumn. H 21.3 cm, weight 1,510 g.
Marks of Johann Seliger, around 1700.
