A pair of Augsburg silver candelabra

The round bases with palmette decor supporting cylindrical plinths applied with Neoclassical figures and columnar shafts with flaring nozzles holding the separately worked three-flame branches with acanthus tendrils and vase-shaped candle nozzles. A tapering corinthian column finial holding a fourth candle nozzle. H 50.3 cm, weight 2,308 g.
Marks of Johann Georg Christoph Neuss, 1828 - 1829.

Neuss was entrusted by Johann Alois Seethaler with the fulfilment of numerous courtly commissions, among others for the House of Hanover and for additions to the "King's Service" for Max I Joseph of Bavaria, sourced from Paris, cf. Seling no. 2665g, fig. 1096.
