A rare Rendsburg parcel gilt Baroque silver box
Cylindrical vessel decorated with repoussé acanthus and flowerheads, the lid with a finely rendered depiction of Pyramus and Thisbe from Ovid's Metamorphoses. H 5; diameter 12 cm, weight186 g.
Marks of Hans Adolf Lilienthal, around 1700.
The Altona Museum in Hamburg holds Lilienthal's "Willkomm" goblet made for the bakers' guild with the same maker's mark (inv. no. 1934/24), cf. Zeitzschel, Die Gold- und Silberschmiede im östlichen Schleswig-Holstein, Neumünster 1998, p. 246.
